Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC) Policy – Disciplinary Records & Criminal History
The Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC) reviews all license applications and may deny licensure to applicants with:
Prior criminal convictions
Past disciplinary actions or sanctions from other professional licensing boards
If you have a prior conviction or disciplinary history, you can request a Preliminary Decision from GREC to determine your eligibility before enrolling in a course.
To request a Preliminary Decision, you’ll need to submit:
Certified court documents or disciplinary records
Any supporting documentation explaining the situation and how it was resolved
Because processing times vary, students are strongly encouraged to request a Preliminary Decision as early as possible.
Even if GREC issues a negative Preliminary Decision, you may still complete the required coursework, take the licensing exam, and request a hearing if your application is denied.
